Light aerobic exercises for 45-60 minutes a day between 50-65% of the max heart rate will improve your fitness base. Walking and light jugging promote the production of hormones such as serotonin, BDNF, norepinephrine, glutamate and gamma amino butyric acid (GABA) in the brain. These hormones nourish the neurons at cellular level and create feeling of wellness. With the presence of excess body fat, muscles build up resistance to insulin, which exacerbates the fat build up and restricts the production of insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1). According to a University of Michigan study, a single session of exercise completely reverses insulin resistance the next day.
